USDA Releases Farm Bill Proposals
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns Wednesday unveiled the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2007 farm bill proposals. The more than 65 proposals correspond to the 2002 farm bill titles with additional special focus areas, including specialty crops, beginning farmers and ranchers, and socially disadvantaged producers.

Among the proposals are payment limitations and increased conservation funding.

An update about the rebuilding of the Florida Citrus Nursery industry and some of the new regulations making it very expensive and slow in coming. Citrus Nurseryman Nate Jamison was president of the Citrus Nurserymen’s Association during the times of hurricanes and canker eradication efforts in recent years. He spoke to citrus growers at a seminar in Ft. Pierce last week, giving several dozen growers in attendance a good update about the situation.
