The latest report on egg production from USDA’s Agricultural Statistics service shows July egg production in Georgia was down one percent from a year ago and hatch of egg-type chicks was down one percent.

The Department of Homeland Security has announced new regulations to crack down on illegal immigrants, which American Farm Bureau officials say will make it more difficult for farmers to find workers to harvest their crops and will likely lead to increased arrests of workers and employers.

Asian soybean rust was reported at low levels in soybean sentinel plots in Jackson and Jefferson counties in the Florida Panhandle. Rust was also reported in Mobile County, Alabama where it was detected in a sentinel plot located within a commercial soybean field.
Update: This week, rust was found in three more Alabama counties, including a soybean sentinel plot in Escambia County, a commercial soybean field in Monroe County and a kudzu patch in Covington County.
